This site will be a guide for learning about Electromagnetism. There are some sub-topics about Electromagnetism too and hope those will help you. GOODLUCK!!!

Electromagnetism is the branch of science dealing with the observations and laws relating electricity to magnetism. Electromagnetism is based upon the fundamental observations that a moving electric charge produces a magnetic field and that a charge moving in a magnetic field will experience a force. The physics of electricity and magnetism.

A solenoid is a three-dimensional coil. In physics, the term solenoid refers to a loop of wire, often wrapped around a metallic core, which produces a magnetic field when an electric current is passed through it. Solenoids are important because they can create controlled magnetic fields and can be used as electromagnets. The term solenoid refers specifically to a magnet designed to produce a uniform magnetic field in a volume of space (where some experiment might be carried out).

The north pole of the electromagnet is determined by using your right hand.  Wrap your fingers around the coil in the same direction as the current is flowing (conventional current flows from + to -).  The direction your thumb is pointing is the direction of the magnetic field, so north would come out of the electromagnet in the direction of your thumb.  DC electromagnets are principally used to pick up or hold objects.
